Select vehicleBy make, model and yearHere you will find TPMS sensors for VW – as a set of 4 or individually, pre-programmed for the respective model and year of manufacture. However, many VW models work with an indirect system without sensors. Therefore, first check which system your Volkswagen has.
Which TPMS does your VW have?
Volkswagen installs two systems. Many models use the tyre pressure monitoring system: an indirect system that detects pressure loss via the ABS sensors. These vehicles do not need tyre pressure sensors. Other models and equipment levels have a direct tyre pressure monitoring system with a sensor in each wheel.
Here is how to check: If the menu in the instrument cluster or infotainment shows a separate pressure value in bar for each wheel, your VW has sensors. If there is only a warning light and a SET button for storing the tyre pressure, it is usually the indirect system. The owner's manual also states the installed system.
How to find the right sensor
Our sensors for VW are each assigned to a model and a year range. At Volkswagen, the system can change within a model series depending on the equipment – the year range alone is therefore not always sufficient; check beforehand whether your vehicle displays pressure values per wheel.
- Open the vehicle selection and choose VW, model and year of manufacture.
- Compare the year range in the article name with your vehicle registration document (first registration).
- Choose the valve: rubber valve or metal valve in silver, black or gunmetal.
- For a new set of wheels, take the set of 4; for a single defective sensor, take the individual sensor.
The sensors for VW operate at 433 MHz and are pre-programmed for the vehicle named in the article name. After installation, they only need to be taught in on the car.
Installation and teach-in on a VW
The sensor is fitted during the tyre change in the workshop. On many VW models with a direct system, the vehicle recognises the new sensors after the tyre pressure is stored in the menu during a short drive. The exact steps are in our guide Teaching in a TPMS sensor on a VW, specifically for the Golf 7 under Teaching in on a Golf 7.
Winter wheels: remember the sensors
If your VW has a direct TPMS, the winter wheel set also needs four functioning sensors. It is best to order the set before the workshop appointment, then the tyre workshop can fit the sensors at the same time as the wheel change. Orders placed by 2 pm are dispatched the same working day with DHL; delivery usually takes 1–2 days.

Frequently asked questions
Does my VW Golf have tyre pressure sensors?
That depends on the generation and equipment. Many Golf models use the indirect tyre pressure monitoring system without sensors. If your Golf shows a separate pressure value for each wheel in the menu, it has a direct system with sensors.
Do I need to program the sensors for my VW?
No. The sensors are pre-programmed for the specified model and only need to be taught in on the vehicle after installation.
What does the yellow tyre pressure warning light mean on a VW?
It indicates a loss of pressure or a fault in the system. First check the air pressure of all wheels. If the value for one wheel is missing from the menu on a direct system, the sensor or its battery is usually at the end of its life.
Which valve should I choose?
The function is the same for all variants. Rubber valves fit steel rims and many alloy rims, while metal valves in silver, black or gunmetal are often chosen for alloy rims.
